At home tips for treating surgical wounds

  • Always wash hands before and after touching wound
  • Inspect incision for signs of infection that may show discoloration like warm, bright red skin or black tissue formation
  • Be alert for bleeding, if bleeding persists contact physician
  • Avoid clothing that may rub incision
  • Avoid activities that can interfere with healing
